About Rekha Rai

Rekha Rai, an artist with a difference, nurtured her artistic journey through sustained and diligent effort, gaining early encouragement when her first oil painting on a religious theme received wide appreciation. Inspired by this response, she went on to explore a diverse range of subjects including social issues, women’s status, human rights, nature, portraits, and ethnic themes, creating works that left a strong impression during numerous exhibitions and attracted public and media attention for their themes and vibrant color combinations. Her art reflects a deep connection between nature and life, responding sensitively to society and its social and economic realities, while drawing inspiration from village folk to higher strata of society. Known for her innovative techniques, expressive use of color, and versatility across oil, watercolor, pastel, pencil sketches, and folk art forms such as Worli and Madhubani, Rekha refuses to be confined to any single style or school, blending classical and modern elements naturally. Alongside her artistic practice, she actively promotes art education through her school, Tribhuvan Arts, dedicated especially to empowering women and children.
